Clerics have urged Muslims and Christians to embrace the peace and live in unity towards the October elections.

The Arusha regional commissioner, Daudi Ntibenda who was represented by Arusha district commissioner, Christopher Kangoye, at the gospel crusade organised by an American Evangelist, Dr Will Graham, was in Arusha for love and peace crusade mission.

The American evangelist has been invited by Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) so as to pray for the country’s peace.

The RC said peace was central of everything, hence calling religious leaders to pray for it.

“We have been living in peace for many years, to the extent that some people from our neighbouring countries seek asylum in Tanzania,” he said, calling clerics to educate people on the need to love each other as well as cultivating a culture of tolerating each other.

“Let’s continue to live together in an atmosphere of peace, love and harmony; we must do away with anything that causes the breach of peace.”
He further urged Tanzanians to cast their votes at the forthcoming elections with the fear of God and prayer for the country’s peace.

For his part, Dr Graham implored the need for Tanzanians to maintain the current peace and security as peace is everything for the country’s socio-economic development.

He also called upon clerics to strengthen relations with the government for long-standing peace in the country.

"God sent His Son to this world because He wanted a personal relationship with each of us," Dr Graham told the gathering of more than 6,000 people at Relini Grounds in Arusha city.
