The hitherto dead baby, Irene Emmanuel, had allegedly died on 6th August last year at Tumbi referral hospital and buried at Mlonganzila cemetery of Kibamba, in Kwembe ward.
Parents of the child who are residents of Kibamba Mjimpya said their infant died in mysterious circumstances whereby soon after the burial they went to Dodoma to find out the cause of their child’s death.
Detailing media, Helen Raphael (23), mother of the resurfaced child, said that soon after reaching Dodoma she went to Pastor Flora Peter’s church in urban Dodoma and the pastor told her that her child is on earth but she needs to pray hard so that she could see her again.
“I went praying but after some days I saw a friend of mine named Mariam. I explained to her how my child disappeared and it is when she told me that there is a local medicineman who can help me, and she gave me his cell phone number,” Helen said.
“I called him and he told me to find a coin of Sh 100 and hold it in my hand, which I did and he told me through phone that my child is still surviving. He directed me to go to Pandambili area where he lives.
I went there the following day as he directed me with my husband, then he took a large wooden spoon, a pestle (for grain pounding) and winnower and went into some incarnation for a few minutes and then my kid appeared,” she said.
“When Irene appeared, she was weak and the healer told me that she is supposed to stay there for sometime so that she recovers consciousness properly.
Two months have passed and then yesterday the healer told me that we could return to Dar es Salaam. We arrived yesterday at 8.00pm,” she elaborated.
Emmanuel Joseph (32), father of the child, affirmed to the media that his child Irene died on August 6 last year at Tumbi referral hospital. “We grieved over her death and soon after the burial we went to Dodoma.
As you have been told by my wife we managed to bring back our daughter Irene,” he stated.
“We arrived here at Kibamba yesterday, and this afternoon we recorded a statement at Mbezi police station,” he elaborated.
Eye witness Alphonce Kwabizi, a resident of Kibamba Mjimpya, admitted that it is true the child passed away August last year but on Friday evening he was informed that the parents of the child came from Dodoma with the child who we had buried last year.
“Soon after the burial Irene’s parents went to Dodoma to consult local healers seeking the source of their child’s death. They then surprisingly appeared with their child, unharmed,” he said.
“As a neighbour, I didn’t believe that and I decided to stay here since yesterday (Friday) and the kid is alive and is talking without any problem,” he explained.
Juma Nakochinya (33), healer from Dodoma said that he has helped to bring back from the dead more than 150 people from different parts of the country.
“Since I started this work it is almost one year whereby I have managed to ‘resurrect’ more than 150 dead people in the community,” he said.
He said he performs his work with spirits whereby the spirits tell him what to do and soon after finding a person whose relatives worry about the manner of their death, the spirits require that he or she stay until the person is beyond any danger.
As you have seen there is another girl from Njombe whom I also ‘resurrected’ two months back and she is still continuing with medication.
The girl, identified by the name of Jenipher Mwenda (23), said that she died in August last year and now she is living though she doesn’t know where she was buried.
Jenipher was staying with Irene at Kibamba Mjimpya at the little girl’s parents’ house. Acting Kinondoni Regional Police Commander Augustino Senga said that they had not received official information from Mbezi Police station.
