The government has handed over to the National Museum office the responsibilities of educating the public about the Union in order to increase people’s awareness and understanding about Union matters..

This was revealed in Dar es Salaam yesterday by the Minister of State, Vice-President Office (Union Affairs) Samia Hassan Suluhu when she was launching the Union’s pictorial exhibition. The pictures were taken from 1964.

“We decide to open a new chapter where the national museum will bear the responsibility of educating the whole country about the Union,” the Minister said.

She said that the Vice-President’s office will continue to fund the National Museum for providing that education.

She added that they decide to start with students whom the museum would build their understanding capacity concerning Union issues. “By educating these students it will enable them to have a good basic knowledge so that no one can mislead them concerning the Union,” she insisted.

The Minister called upon those who have better understanding about the Union to act as ambassadors in educating the public.
The National Museum Director Professor Audax Mabulla said that there was distortion about the Union maters; therefore the education would help to clear all doubts about it.

The Director said that all people who have doubts about the Union should go to the National Museum where all evidence was available.
