Yanga thump Mbeya City.

Yanga fans celebrate victory over Mbeya City. Yanga won 3-1.
Young Africans have intensified their inexorable quest to win this year’s Mainland premier soccer league title after thumping visiting Mbeya City by 3-1 goals in their return leg match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Goals from Kpah Sherma, Nadir Haroub and Salum Telela were enough to freeze the visitors who secured a consolation through Themi Felix.

The teams progressed into the dressing rooms with hosts Yanga enjoying a 2-1 goal lead.

The victory has elevated Yanga to the top of the standings table with 46 points while opening an eight-point cushion over holders Azam FC. Azam have a huge task of defending the title with few matches left on the season’s fixture. The ice-cream makers have 38 points while Simba are third on the standings.  This is Yanga’s fifth back to back win.
