The Guardian shines in EJAT awards

Five journalists from The Guardian Ltd have shined in the first category of the 2015 Excellence Journalism Awards (EJAT) conducted every year by the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT).

Richard Makore won on gender and education category, while Gwamaka Alipipi won on health and agriculture with Ramadhani Mbwaduke winning on good governance.

Others include Sanula Athanas who scooped on sports category and Gerald Kitabu taking the environmental category.

In the second place category was Lulu George, Moshi Lusonzo, Rahma Ali Suleiman , Halima Kambi, Joseph Mwendapole and Thobias Mwanakatwe.

The ceremony that took place in Dar es Salaam on Friday witnessed by the Vice President Gharib Bilal saw Mkinga Mkinga and Lucas Liganga from Mwanainchi Communications limited scooping the overall winners’ wards with Jenerali Ulimwengu winning the life achievement category and a Sh10million in prize.

Other winners include Herieth Makweta ( Mwananchi), Tumaini Msowoya ( Mzalendo), Doedatus Balile ( Jamhuri), Anneth Emmanuel na  Harith Jaha (Afya Radio), Dotto Bulembu ( Radio SAUTI FM), Abubakari Akida (Mtanzania), Khamis Suleiman ( Channel Ten), Hawa Bihoga (DW-Swahili), Tuma Dandi ( Mlimani Radio).

Also in the list were Ally Khamis ( ABM FM), Khamis Abdallah (Afya Radio), Faraja Sendegeya (BBC) na Mwamini Andrew (TBC).

Earlier, twelve journalists from the IPP Media were nominated for the awards out of 53 finalists from 959 entries competing for 21 categories.
