National Housing Cooperation (NHC) Director General, Nehemiah Mchechu.
Advice to that end was aired mid this week in Dar es Salaam by the
National Housing Cooperation (NHC) Director General, Nehemiah Mchechu.
Mchechu said experience has shown that countries which extensively
invested in human resources were more advanced in rendering quality
services than those which don’t.
“It is now time for the government to recheck its human resources
department if it really wants to provide quality services in various
areas,” he said.
He advised the government to concentrate on the long-term
structural programme for upgrading staff dealing with human resources
and give them appropriate knowledge required for their duties.
He said the government can create an enabling environment for human resources to deliver quality service to the maximum level.
However, he urged members of the public to have a habit of reading
many books as a way of getting knowledge from various authors.
Mchechu explained that people can acquire deeper knowledge from reading books, some of which were written for several years.
He said history showed that oral systems of transmitting knowledge,
as those used by ancestors, made people shun the culture of reading
books.
For his part, the NFT Chief Executive Officer, Badru Mtege, said everybody has a potential to make great changes.
He said through their targets, initially built from the knowledge outsourced from various sources, they can deliver quite a lot.
He said once people are trained they can use the skills at their
work places and homes in addition to improving their performance.
Mtege said it was now time for organisations to know how much has
been invested in human resources and how they can be accountable in
rendering quality service.
“Let us now give an opportunity to everybody so that they can be
effective in terms of service delivery because great achievements come
after long training and deliverance, “he said.
